Opis
A standalone add-on for the strategy game Total War: SHOGUN 2, part of the popular Total War series, developed for years by the British studio Creative Assembly.
Total War: SHOGUN 2 - Twilight of the Samurai focuses on the conflict between the emperor's followers and the last shogunate. The new campaign, based on the events of the Boshin Civil War period, begins in 1864 and ends in 1870, a time when the traditional culture of the shoguns clashes with a modern army using firearms. The player's task is to bring Japan into the modern era. The developers have provided the opportunity to play 4 completely new historical battles, based on the dramatic clashes of the Boshin Civil War.
There are 6 new playable families at our disposal. Three of them (Aizu, Nagaoka, Jozai) are supporters of the last shogunate, while the other half (Choshu, Satsuma, Tosa) support the emperor. Three more factions (Saga, Obama, and Saga) are earmarked as DLC additions. Foreign powers also play a significant role during the civil war. Relations with the Americans, British and French directly affect the ability to recruit units and the potential for technological development.
The campaign map has been expanded northward to include the new island of Ezo (today's Hokkaido), and for the first time in the Total War series it depicts a network of railroads. The player can build his own rail transport tracts to move armies and agents between regions. Interestingly, rail lines can be sabotaged and enemy transports blocked by taking control of parts of the line or stations. Also added are 39 land units and 10 floating units (steam warships and foreign battleships). There were also new agents. The ninja duo (here as Shinobi) and Geisha were joined by: Overseas Veteran (a specialist in modern warfare) and Ishin Shishi (a processional bias) and Shinshengumi (representing the shogunate clan factions). Both of the last two resemble Metsuke - the counterintelligence and propagandist known from the basic version of the game. Of course, all five have a special skill tree. In addition, the activities of each agent have been divided into a diversionary division and a pro-state division.
Another innovation that has been introduced in Total War: SHOGUN 2 - Twilight of the Samurai is the port siege. The developers have implemented new ways for sea and land units to interact. During a land battle, armies have the option of using ship support (artillery fire), and shore guns can fire at surface units circling the port. Meanwhile, from the position of the strategic map, our fleet will be able to shell the enemy's coast. However, the real novelty of Twilight of the Samurai is the appearance of modern firearms on Japan's battlefields, including Gatling guns and Armstrong and Parrott cannons - all with the ability to fire at enemy lines from a first-person perspective. In a similar way, we will be able to use the deck artillery of our fleet. In Twilight of the Samurai, unfortunately, factories and trade fleets have been dropped.
The multiplayer mode has also been updated. A new conquest map reflecting the 19th century historical background has been introduced. We received a completely new Twilight of the Samurai avatar, containing more than 40 representatives of the entourage, 30 pieces of armor and a 19th-century skill tree.
